Week 10 EOC: Mission Statement

The first mission statement that I was able to find that actually is a decent one came from a photography company called Visage Company Photography & Media. When it comes to their mission statement they are being forth and honest about what they do and how they make sure that they achieve what the customer expects and wants. In this particular statement they are not rambling on and on about pointless nonsense that doesn’t get their point out there of what they do and of what is expected of them as professionals. They succeeded in making themselves and their website a little more interesting to continue to look at. The second mission statement that I found is for a company called Latvis Photography. This is again like the first one that I found that basically gets directly to the point of who they are and what it is that they provide. I find it much easier to be able to look more into a company when they are more forward about what it is that they provide to their customers service wise. Week 9 EOC: Emotional Photo

When I had to choose a famous photograph to write about for my EOC this week, I decided once again to think a little more outside the box and go with a photo that really touches hoe with me. I wanted to choose a photograph that relates more with the type of work that I plan to be doing myself, instead of being like everyone else and choosing a photo that would just be way too common. I’m a very unique person so I try to make my work stand out that way also. With that being said I decided to choose a photo that I was able to find from this week’s game on Thanksgiving of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo trying to throw the ball from inside the pocket. In this photo you can clearly see that he is attempting to look down the field to find an open receiver to catch the ball and make a touchdown. This particular game was played against the Miami Dolphins who actually ended up losing the game in the last few seconds of it by one point, the final score being 20-19. Also in this photo it displays great sportsmanship of the team members of the Cowboys offensive team trying to help keep their quarterback protected to make that play complete. The emotional attachment I have to this particular photo aside from the fact that obviously I’m a die hard Dallas fan but the fact that my main goal I actually have set for myself is to be the main photographer that works for the team in the near future. I want to be that particular photographer that is down on the sidelines of the Dallas stadium capturing this particular photo and have it known by anyone looking at it knowing exactly which game and which specific play it was.  

Week 7 EOC: Adult Content

After watching the film Gentlemen’s Relish, I have come to find that the way things were starting to develop back in those times were being portrayed as so true. It was not something that was taken very lightly in the beginning. The art form of paintings that you would find during that time of nude woman was not uncommon at all. It wasn’t unnatural to see that. Now a day seeing that type of work based in photography no one will turn a strange eye away from it. During that era as it was being introduced in the world of photography people would try to find it a little obscene at first, until they had the opportunity to really view it as beauty in its own form.  In its time it was also a way to start getting it out there as a form of pornography but in a subtle then it is perceived as today. As far as how the photographer got hoaxed into doing the type of nude photography is not that uncommon. There are many different types of people these days that will try and work that same idea into the world of photography today with out it falling more into the porn industry. There is always a middleman that is trying to get out of it everything that he can financially. With that being said, today its even better with all the copyright laws that we have in place it makes it a lot easier for someone’s photos to stay controlled by the actual photographer. Instead of by the middleman who wants to try and squeeze what he can out of it as shown in the film.

Week 6 EOC: How Art Changed Me

Deciding to come to this school in particular was a huge decision for me. When I thought about going to school to pursue my dream as a photographer and get my degree in this field, I thought seriously about it and didn’t want to go anywhere else but to The Art Institute of Las Vegas. By choosing to attend this school I have had more hands on experience and by having the opportunity to work with other professional photographers in different areas of photography. Before coming to this school, I looked at photography as more of a small passion/hobby. As I have grown with going to school here, I have become more and more passionate as my love for photography has grown. By attending school here I have learned more than I would have ever known just by trying to figure out this stuff on my own. As far as how art has changed me, I have grown into more of having a stronger passion for the sports area of the field in photography. Being able to attend an art school rather than a regular community college, has way more advantages for me in getting to elaborate on the whole idea of art as a whole. The best part about it is the classes are way smaller and it gives you that opportunity to be a little more one on one with the teachers who generally work in the field of study. I feel that I have more chances to get better feedback and critiques from them on how my work is rather then having the average Joe look at it and say its great just to make me happy with myself. Learning more about how to improve my work and get the skills I need for my degree has made me more open to challenge and improve my art in a way that no one else will be able to duplicate. It really gives me that chance to seriously put myself into my art the best way that I can professionally.  

Week 4 EOC: Plans for visiting a Photo Shop

For this weeks photo challenge I plan to go to the photo supply store that is here in town called Casey’s Camera. I will be contacting the store to speak to the manager about coming to set up and take a self-portrait in the store. I may even ask the manager if they would like to be in the photo with me to help promote the store, by telling them I will be tweeting about them on my twitter and give them recognition on my blog as well. This particular location is located at 1550 E Tropicana Ave in Las Vegas, NV 89119 702.736.0890 and are open daily from M-F 9-6 & Sat 9-5 also Sun 10-5.

Week 3 EOC: My Commitment

My commitment that I have chosen for my business in the photography field is a sports photographer. I plan on having my business located in the beautiful city of San Francisco, CA. I am going to be available to my clients to market their needs when it comes to making the best sports photos possible at every different event possible. I will be marketing myself to specialize in events such as high school football and baseball games throughout the area. I also plan on working with the local teams that put on charity sporting events. With that being said I also plan to work my way up to meeting and making those important contacts that will allow me to gain full and complete access into the NFL as well as the MLB. With every given opportunity I plan to market myself and become worldwide known. After that has been accomplished I plan to be able to work with other areas of sporting events in the NBA and NHL, to even Motor Cross events and so forth. When I’m not working on any kind of sporting event I plan to also to be available to every customer in other fields of photography as well. I want to be able to meet every need of each of my customers as possible. I also believe in building and maintaining a strong interpersonal relationship with all my clients and the important people whom I have made contact with in order to get Brandi Kimmett Photography off the ground. I will always be as dependable and reliable to all clients and customers, and while making sure that I am responsible and fulfilling all the obligations that I have to every person that decides to hire me for their events.

Week 2 EOC: La Dolce Vita

After only watching the little bits and pieces of the film La Dolce Vita, I completely understand where the idea of the paparazzi comes into play. To actually be back in that time frame as a paparazzi photographer then would have definitely been a major challenge. The great lengths that they went to just trying to get the perfect kind of photo and having to fight the crowd of all the other photographers trying to do the exact same thing. I think that now a day we take our camera equipment for granted compared to what they had to deal with then of having much more to work with. They would have to change out their flash bulbs after every picture taken, compared to now that we have much better options available to us in that sense. With that being said not much else has changed very much when it comes to the paparazzi between then and now. They still have to fight around each other as well as they also are still just as vicious as ever to do what ever it may take to provoke who they are trying to photograph.  This movie did seem very interesting to watch and actually see how life was lived in that era and that part of the world. According to Dear Cinema film and films festivals says this about the film "No serious film connoisseur can resist the seduction of La Dolce Vita (meaning, the sweet life). A scandalous box office hit in Italy and internationally as well as a huge critical success, La Dolce Vita remains one of the most influential films of all time, since its release in 1960. The film gave birth to the word paparazzi. Genius filmmaker (and my personal film god) Federico Fellini’s masterpiece is a caustic critique of modern Rome, but is pertinent to all modern society as to all modern society as well.” They also rate the film 5 stars.

Week 1 EOC: About Me

I am an aspiring Sports Photographer who holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Digital Photography. Every single day I have an opportunity to grasp that split second of every moment that cannot be duplicated. Since I was a little kid I have been a sports enthusiast. I have always wanted to do something that would give me the chance to be as close to as possible to any kind of professional sports figure. I have many different experiences of shooting all kinds of different photography from portraiture, to landscape, to still life and many others. I love to do any kind of photography, but no matter what my heart will always fall back to and lie with sports photography.

           I always do my best to perform and make sure that my photographs will always meet the expectations of the viewing eyes that look at them. I enjoy the satisfaction that I get from the observing all the expressions on the viewers face after they have seen my photographs. I have always been a huge fan of photography and it was a great feeling for me when I had graduated with my degree and was able to get out into the real world and put it to use and get to the level of accomplishments that I’m at now.  

Week 1 EOC: Stallions not Unicorns

The business that I have started resides in the beautiful city of San Francisco, CA. I decided to move to this town in particularly because of the beauty that resides all around it. I have opened my own Free Lance Sports Photography business, called Brandi Kimmett Photography. There already are a few very well known sports photographers located in the bay area, but to have one more in that area is not a bad idea. The majority of them are all men, so it is a change of pace to actually have a beautiful and talented woman sports photographer in the business. I specialize in sports photography, but I also bring other photography options to the table as well. I love to meet the needs of all the wonderful people in and around the bay area and surrounding areas. I plan to make my business as a sports photographer grow with the needs of all the different sporting events in and around the circulating areas. I will do everything necessary to make sure that my business will succeed so that the word will travel and I will become the next greatest sports photographer in the world. My goal in my business is to become greater and more worldwide known then any of the current sports photographers in San Francisco. I plan to be as accessible to all the everyday needs of all my customers whether it is for a sporting event in town, around the world somewhere, or even if it just happens to be a couple that decided to announce that they are getting married. No matter what the job is that the customer is asking of Brandi Kimmett Photography, there is no job or photography request too big or too small for my company to accomplish and provide the best results for the customer.
